FUTURES ARCHAEOLOGY
Gallery 3Portes and the ATOP Aristi Mountain Resort & Villas are pleased to present
"FUTURES ARCHAEOLOGY", a group exhibition taking place across two locations.
Futures Archaeology comes second after a first iteration of Archaeology, curated by Sophie Fardella in 2023 with Tassos Kaliakatsos, Angelos Krallis and Eleni Stroulia. Futures Archaeology will take place simultaneously in two locations: Gallery 3 Portes, and ATOP Aristi Mountain Resort & Villas . ATOP is a multispace at Aristi Mountain Resort & Villas. Located in the Village of Aristi, Zagorochoria, Ioannina.
Conceived as a space for experimentation, Futures Archaeology invites artists to push the boundaries of their chosen disciplines by exploring the physical structure of the artwork in its relationship to space. By emphasizing the effects of art—emotional, didactic, informative—eleven artists come together around a shared creative approach: the research process. We aim to create a dynamic, open, and informal space, akin to that of a shared studio, encouraging of unpredictable dialogues. In the words of Sophie Fardella, visual artist and co-owner of 3 Portes Gallery, when the process is more important than the result, it means that the quest is ongoing.
